Basic overview

Even though in pickup vehicle looks are not a priority but Mahindra has made its latest version quite beautiful with front grills and solid reflector headlamps. There is an option to put fog lamps also. Tires with steel rims are used with 12 ply rating but a major drawback is that there is no option for tubeless tires.

Ground clearance of the vehicle is quite high which is 195 mm due to this a footboard is given by the company. This vehicle comes in two payload options – 1700 Kg and 1245 Kg and now this vehicle is also available in BS6 compliant option. Mahindra has provided a strong chassis now to carry its 9 feet extra long loading bay.

Interiors

The company has made interiors very similar to an SUV. Seats are quite comfortable with sliding and recline adjustable driver seat. The dashboard looks very stylish as shown in the image with power steering, mobile charging options with the dual-tone interiors. The truck has floor mats, a lockable glovebox, ELR seat belts, and many other storage places but there is no power window option.

Technical specs

The Truck has a Mahindra M2DICR 4 cylinder inline 2523 CC 2.5L DI turbocharged diesel BS6 engine which generates a power of 75HP @ 3200 RPM and torque of 200 Nm @ 1400-2200 RPM. It has a 5 speed manual fully synchromesh type gearbox with a single plate dry friction type clutch.

If we look at the suspension it has rigid leaf spring with hydraulic double acting telescopic shock absorbers in front with 5 no. of leaves and rigid leaf springs with hydraulic double acting telescopic shock absorber suspension in rear with 9 leaves.

An antiroll bar is given at the front which is a quite good safety feature. If we look at the brakes Mahindra has given disc brakes in front and drum brakes in the rear.

Weight and dimensions

The GVW(Gross vehicle weight) of this vehicle is 3490KG. The vehicle is available in 2 payload options – 1700 kg and 1245 kg. You can choose as per your applications. The size of the wheelbase is 3264 mm with a deck length of 9 feet and deck width of 5.5 feet. The CBC (cabin chassis) variant is also available. The size of the fuel tank is 60 L diesel fuel tank. Ratings of tire are 12 ply rating with R15. The mileage of the vehicle is 14.3 KMPL as per the brochure.

What we think, why Tata Motors has launched the petrol variant because we think in future Tata may give petrol plus CNG options so of now they have given a petrol variant only. There is no such official announcement, this is just our guess.

Design

In the front part, Tata has given Tata Ace Gold branding with a gold basin. Honeycomb grills are used in the front part. Rounded headlights are given the same as in earlier variants. It has quite a simple and elegant look with bright metallic colors.

In the interiors, manual window operation is given. Good quality fabrics are on the seat. It has got gear level in a dual fabric finish. It is a 2 sitter vehicle for driver and co-driver. Tata has given quite stiff and strong chassis along with 1 spare wheel in the back. The mini-truck has got Chassis with cabin type chassis or day cabin. It has got a deck body type option.

The tempo is also equipped with a digital instrument cluster, lockable glove box and other storage places near the dashboard. It also a USB charging point.

Technical specifications

Tata Ace Gold is equipped with Tata 275 BS6 compliant petrol MPFI (Multi-point fuel injection) 4 stroke water-cooled engine. This engine will give the maximum power of 30 HP at 4000 RP with 55NM torque at 2500-3000 RPM.

It has parabolic leaf spring suspension with hydraulic telescopic shock absorber as front suspension and semi-elliptical leaf spring suspension with hydraulic telescopic shock absorber as rear suspension. The Company has provided a special GSA (Gear shift advisor ) feature that helps the driver to let them know when to switch gears. The truck also has a eco switch for fuel efficiency in case there is no load in the vehicle.

Weight and dimension

It has GVW (gross vehicle weight) of 1615 Kg with a rated payload of 750 Kg with a wheelbase of 2100 mm. The length of the cargo box is 7.2 Feet and width as 4.9 Feet. Tata has provided tires in 8 ply rating (145 R12) tube and tubeless options.
